Starting the AuctionNPBid has started an auction that has has bids raised up to about $200. We have worked hard to figure out the Forms for the spreadsheet. We have advertised our project in different ways in the daily announcements, twitter, and by a huge email by Mr. Large. We have finally got our stuff figured out and have received about 50 bids in total. We have been trying to update as quickly as we can. We have had a lot of views on our posts and visits to our website. AdvertisingFor Advertising, I used Photoshop to create the best advertisement I could on Twitter. We took photos in the Green Screen Room and we used the photos on here on the advertisement. I was a little out of sorts on Photoshop, but then figured it out. We posted the Advertisement on Twitter. Finishing the WebsiteWe plan to finish the website by next Friday. We might lower the prices of items if they do not receive bids because we don't want any items left on our hands. We hope that the auction will finish smoothly with a goal of $250 raised for Riley. Below is a current Update of the Spreadsheet with the updated bids that we have.

Finishing TouchesThis week we are still filling out the website. We are finding out more things out on Google Sheets that we didn't know before. We are trying to make this process simple and for not only us, but for the people buying the product. We are trying to clean up the sheet so people know how to use it and no how to get the items they desire. For our form we have them put name, email, phone numbers, and bid so we can update the form quickly. We have taken all of our pictures of the products and still working on finishing the forms and should be ready to launch next week. The SheetFor the sheet we have made it simple and put it into four different columns with Item, Starting Bid, Current Bid, and Link to Bid. This is the simple we have been making and plan to finish it by early next week. We are finishing by linking all the forms. We then will be ready for action after we get it all linked up correctly and the right way. We have put important information in a different color at the top so people will know our information. Spreading the WordWe plan on marketing a bunch next week with emails from Mrs. Robinson and Twitter posts to get the word out about our products. We expect to get some bids and some buys by the end of next week. We are excited to launch this project and get the items out of our hands. NPBid is excited to hand over another donation to Riley.
Making a WebsiteWe are currently working on making a website for the clothes we have obtained at various stores. Through extensive research we found out the best way to make our website is through a google forms on a google spreadsheet. We found out and are perfecting making these so we can get out to people as soon as possible. Our website will be open to the public soon and we can' t wait to get these goods out of our hands. The website is made through a google sheets and you can access the form by clicking on the link. We will have to update the bid occasionally, but with four group members we should keep up. Taking the PicturesNow we are working on taking high quality photos of our shirts. We are trying to find the right lighting with the professional light in the green screen room. We are getting through several bags this week and then should finish them all next week. We are working to finish up NPBid in the span of the next couple of weeks. Below is a photo that we have gotten and we are trying to make the best photos possible for people wanting to buy them. After we get the photos taken we will assign them to the appropriate cell in google sheets and then start trying to market what we have.
Target: Grant ProposalBefore break, My group and I went to propose a grant to the Super Target at Southport. We made our proposal to Target with our grant request and our tax exempt forms to show that we are eligible for a grant. We went to the Customer Service Area and proposed our grant request. Target does their grants by giving out gift cards instead of checks. We are waiting on Target and Meijer to get back to us with our grant requests. It will take around a couple of weeks to process, but we couldn't meet with our contact on this day because of new employee training on the day we arrived. Dawson and I called an active manager, Jessica, helped us gather the information needed to propose our project. We were able to have a little time to walk around the store and look for potential items for our project located inside of the store. We found a variety of items that would work well with our project if we are given the grant. Below are pictures of our trip to target: Denied RequestsOver break, we were denied grants with Build-A-Bear and Kroger. We filled out these proposals online and were not given the chance to get grants from those following companies. The messages said kind words about our project and cause and we are looking forward to continuing on with our project. Both of the grants were long shots and were going to be hard to get. We wrote a proposal for this online and filled both out. We thank both of these organizations for considering our group and our cause. The Next Step for NPBidOur next step over the coming weeks is finding and finally obtaining an efficient website that will work with our group to run our online auction. We have looked at sites including BiddingOwl, Wordpress, OnlineAuction.com, and various other sites that can operate our auction to a high level. The disadvantages of obtaining the website that we are looking for that can keep track of the bids live is that most of those websites are very expensive even for a monthly subscription. We are working with Mr. Large currently to find an alternate project while we figure out the situation with the website because our project has had stalled temporarily. We are about to start a part time project at the moment with a BreakOut Box Project. This project is one where we are going to teach interactive lessons with students at the elementary and middle school level. We will create lesson plans on what they are learning in class and make games for them with the box. They get some of the clues right and they BreakOut of the locks to get the ultimate prize of breaking out of the box.
Meijer: GrantOn October 31st, NPBid went on a business trip to Meijer to try to acquire a grant to get athletic apparel for our main project of an online auction. We had to fill out and submit many different forms in this process. We created a proposal for this to present to the Customer Service area at Meijer. Below is two of our group members presenting our proposal to turn in to apply for a grant. Currently, we are waiting to see if our proposal will be voided or accepted. We are hoping for the best, but are grateful for the opportunity Meijer has given us. Distributing the GoodsThe distribution process for Guedel Design was a tricky one. First, we went to Mr. Guedel's estate where we got three giant boxes that were put into my car and a fellow NPBidder's. We had the items to be picked up during the school day on a Friday. Some people picked up their items during this day, but many didn't making it a problematic odyssey for our group. I went out of my free time to get the items to the customers as quickly as possible. I went to many kids practices and events all over the school district to distribute the items. Finally, a week ago we had all of the items picked up. A total of eighty-nine items have been happily delivered to teachers, students and members of the community. Thank you to Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Ginther for helping our group out with our distribution process by allowing us and helping us hand out the items in the main office. Lastly, I would like to help those who bought items with out partnership with Guedel because of the customer's we raised $354.30 for Riley Children's hospital. Build A Bear Grant (UnBEARlievable)Recently, we have applied for a Build-A-Bear grant for 24 bears that we can give to the children at Riley. We feel like with this grant we can deliver these bears to motivate us further to help the hospital and to put a smile on the children's faces. Our goal is to help out Riley in anyway we can and we are hopeful to get this grant to help out the children at Riley even more. Coming Soon...We are planning on finding the right website for us in the near future. We have narrowed it down to a couple websites and are still researching to find the right one for our auction website. We have many items coming in and are waiting for many responses from colleges and Universities. We are looking forward to what is to come with NPBid. NPBid is on the come up and ready to raise more money for Riley. NPBid Update:NPBid has recently got our feet of the ground with generous donations from Dick's Sporting goods, the Indiana Pacers, and Phil Morris Team Image. We have around twenty items in total including an old Pacers jersey and some sweet New Pal gear. We have progressed in talks with Hanover College, UIndy, and Hanover College for future donations. Below are pictures of items we have received for our auction website. Football Apparel PartnershipThe week after we returned from fall break. My team and I have had a great opportunity to partner with Guedel Design. We are running an online store for one week with Guedel Design. NPBid is getting 15% of the proceeds to donate to our cause of choice, which is Riley Children's Hospital. We tweeted out our promotional ad on twitter and have gotten over 4,000 impressions or views. Thank you for the people that have helped us spread the word and have been generous enough to buy some "RED RAGE" apparel. Below is the picture of the ad and items we are trying to sell: We have got a recent report on what we have sold on a spreadsheet. We feel like we have gotten the word out effectively via Twitter. In the spreadsheet below you can see the data on what we have sold. The most popular item is the HeavyWeight Long Sleeve Tee. So far we have raised $132.30 dollars to Riley with the sale still going on. Dick's Sporting Goods: GrantA couple of days ago NPBid received a $100 grant from Dick's Sporting Goods to continue to get items for our upcoming online auction. We bought 8 total items with this money we have received. We went on our long day for this shopping trip and had a lot of fun getting various clothing items and can't wait to auction them off at a later date. Below is a picture of the groups in our Advanced Business Management Class who received grants. NPBid is located on the left of the picture: Pacers FanJamOne of my group members and I went to get items from the Pacers at the FanJam scrimmage. They were happy to generously donate classic apparel to our group. We are truly grateful for all the donations we have received. We met a good contact in Kyle Krol who helped get us some of these items. He helped guide us through the Fieldhouse and helped pick out and give the items to us. Below are some pictures from the FanJam. About NPBidNPBid is a nonprofit online auction website where all of our proceeds we get are donated to Riley Children’s Hospital. This is a project where we are trying to get local businesses, organizations, and universities to donate items to us. We then will sell these items via auction and donate the proceeds to Riley Children's Hospital. If NPBid can generate enough money then we can help out the kids at Riley, but also get named a Riley Miracle School. A school can be a Riley Miracle School if they donate a certain amount of proceeds to the Riley Foundation. I am passionate about this project because it brings the community together in a fun online way where they can do their part in bidding on the donations. For this project all of the proceeds we make will go back to Riley. Initial Project ThoughtsI ended up choosing this project because I am interested in going into the business field in college and I felt like this nonprofit project would give me an idea on what it is like to start a business. This project is important to me because not only does it help the kids at Riley Children’s Hospital, but it helps New Palestine High School get recognition as a Miracle School as well. I hope to accomplish getting this nonprofit auction website worked out so we can use it as a legacy project for future students in the class. I believe that Riley Children’s Hospital is a great cause and it would be great way for myself and future students to both help the kids at Riley, but also help the high school out as well. Proposal and Pitch DayNPBid was an idea that I came up with going through the old NPBay Websites. NPBay was a part of an old marketing class at NPHS that auctioned off items and donated them to a different cause every year. I then saw their proceeds that they donated and was astonished by the amount they first did (as seen below). NPBay ended in 2015 because the participation on the auction was limited. NPBid believes we can get better items than NPBay had and hope to generate good amounts of revenue. The ProposalWhen my group and I first proposed NPBid we had to figure out a variety of components. These components had to tell Objectives, What We Need, What We Will Do, Logistics, and Standards Involved. We created a flyer to show what it was all about, but here are the main points we picked out that may be helpful from each section. The Main Objectives for NPBid were to help benefit Riley Children’s Hospital, regain our status or a Miracle School, and represent our school in a positive way. For, the What We Need section we needed reliable donors to donate various items to our auction, an auction website, storage for the items, and somewhere to give items to customers. This is one of the most difficult sections for NPBid because we are starting it from scratch basically. For the What We Will Do we talked about how we will get our items and how we are going to get information to find potential donors. The Standards Involved Section were used to show what techniques we are using and what we are learning from this. For this I put Formulating business management decisions, strategic and operational planning, and business etiquette. Lastly, for the Logistics we talked about the process we were going to use for our website and about the delivering process. For this proposal, we sat in a circle in class and pitched our ideas we had for one another. The groups all gave good feedback to improve our ideas before the more formal Pitch Day. Pitch DayFor Pitch Day, we had to do a presentation in front of the whole world... Well the New Palestine World that is because we had to present not only in front of our peers, but the administration as well. Don’t worry, my group was really prepared, but really nervous because the other groups set the bar so high. We were prepared because we each wrote notes that we memorized about our assigned slide in our slide deck presentation. We studied up on the old NPBay and were planning on trying to make it better for everyone using it. We prepared ourselves for questions and that turned out well for us as we went into the “shark tank.” The feedback we got was really good and we plan on implementing the feedback into the project. The main points of feedback were:
What's NextNPBid is happy to announce we have already started receiving donations for our website. We plan on getting the website up next month. We haven’t started setting up the website because we are looking for the right website for us that is really friendly. We plan on contacting more organizations now hoping to get a response. Here is an example of our contact spreadsheet that we are working on getting as many potential donors as possible. Extra: Our Logos |
